It has been used in Sao Paolo Brazil for generations as a delicious and nutritious food. Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania started studying ABM in 1965 because they were interested in how it seemed to improve the health of the people who ate it. ABM contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids and polysaccharides (several forms of beta-glucan).
